For disruption of tissues or disruption of cells in culture when we want to minimize interfering chemicals, we use this mechanical homogenizer. Kinematica is known for their homogenizers and this unit is well made.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Homogenization

Starting Material

Various tissues and cell lines

Protocol Overview

The rotor/stator mounts or releases by pulling the quick release collar on the motor unit back. Each rotor/stator size can handle a certain volume range.

Tips

Don't bother with the expensive stand

Results Summary

The 7mm rotor stator shown works well if you have 1 - 10 ml volume in a tube. Smaller sizes could handle microliter volumes in microcentrifuge tubes. Several pulses of several seconds seems adequate to lyse most cells as verified by a microscope. The rotor and stator are easy to disassemble for cleaning.

Features Summary

25,000 rpm maximum speed
