TBARS (Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) levels are measured in the plasma by using the standard curve of malondialdehyde prepared by the overnight digestion of 1,1,3,3- tetraethoxypropane.

Overnight digestion of different concentrations of 1,1,3,3- tetraethoxypropane in presence of 0.2N HCl was carried out for the preparation of standard curve of malondialdehyde. This standard curve was used for the estimation of TBARS (Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) levels in plasma. TBARS are the products of lipid peroxidation.
Overnight digestion is essential for the complete digestion of 1,1,3,3- tetraethoxypropane
A series of standard solution in the range of 8-40 nmol was obtained and standard curve was constructed. Values of TBARS were expressed as nmol/mg protein.
