Product Name:

RNeasy Mini Kit

Catalog Number:

74104

The purpose for using this kit was to isolate RNA from a small number of T cells. I chose it because it seemed easy to use, quick, and it allowed me to isolate RNA from a small starting sample.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

RNA isolation

Starting Material

T cells isolated from spleens and lymph nodes

Protocol Overview

I freshly isolated T cells from drug-treated mice and used this kit to isolate RNA from them. The kit came with an easy to follow protocol and all the necessary buffers, columns, and collection tubes. However, I did choose to add a DNAse in order to rid my sample of DNA contamination.

Tips

I needed to get a bag of extra collection tubes because there were not quite enough with the kit.

Results Summary

I was able to isolate high quality RNA from a small amount of T cells (1 million) to use for future application in PCR.
