Product Name:

SeaKem LE AGAROSE 500G

Catalog Number:

50004

We routinely use this agarose to run DNA gels, it melts easily and I have made gels as low as 0.7% as well as very thin gels that hold up to the heat of running gels at up to 200V. The gels also show even migration throughout the gel.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Running agarose DNA gels

Starting Material

Various

Protocol Overview

Add the desired amount of agarose for your % gel in 1X TAE buffer and then melt via microwave. After letting it cool until it is slightly warm in your hand, pour onto DNA mold and let set. Load samples and run gel.

Tips

Make sure agarose is fully dissolved in TAE or gels will run weird.

Results Summary

Running multiple colony PCR samples and a DNA ladder on a gel yields excellent results with the colony PCR samples migrating the same as the positive control (2nd lane) and the DNA ladder showing a size between 2000 and 3000 bp (expected size ~2600 bp). The gel also had very low background signal letting the bands can be easily viewed.
