Human Galectin-1 Affinity Purified Polyclonal Ab

Catalog Number:

AF1152

Our lab's longstanding goal is to unravel new protein biomarkers in cancer and elucidate their functional role in tumorigenesis. Galectins are beta-galactoside binding proteins and have a high affinity towards oligosaccharides. Galectin-1 is the prototype of the galectin family and has been implicated in a wide variety of cancers and different tumorigenic processes. Here we detect galectin-1 expression in colon tissues using immunohistochemistry to visualize its distribution in different compartments of the tissue. It was observed that using this antibody we can detect galectin-1 (brown) protein in the stromal component surrounding the crypt cells.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Immunohistochemistry

Sample

Human colon tissue

Primary Incubation

1:500 in block buffer

Blocking Agent

Fish gelatin or 0.5% FBS in PBS

Secondary Incubation

DAB staining using Vectastain

Tertiary Incubation

Nucleus stain

Detection

IX81 microscope

Results Summary

Gal-1 staining is limited to the stromal component of the tissue. The brown staining is gal-1 and could be seen spread out below the crypts.
