Expedeon
InstantBlue - Protein Stain
ISB1L
Expedeon's InstantBlue is marketed as being a simpler, faster, and safer protein stain than Coomassie stain and other alternative reagents. In this particular experiment, I was testing the extent of biotinylation of a purified protein on a low ug scale using streptavidin beads. This staining reagent is of course applicable to the detection of hundreds of ng's to a few ug's of proteins for any type of experiment.
Protein gel
Purified protein
After running protein samples on a polyacrylamide gel, the unwashed gel is immediately covered with a minimal amount of InstantBlue stain. To destain the gel, the stain is decanted and replaced with water.
Don't let your gel go dry during the staining or destaining process.
Staining occurs within minutes as advertised. I have not experienced any problems with high background after using this product for over a year.
