S100A4 is highly expressed in fibroblasts after activation of the cell. Stroma of the tumors, inflamation or injuries are cellular processes which could activate and recruit fibroblasts. We use this marker to detect those active fibroblasts in tumoral samples to analyze patient or mice tumoral samples.
