Purpose was to extract total RNA from mammalian cells in culture (MEFS). Extracted RNA would be treated with DNAseI followed by cDNA synthesis. qPCR was performed using the resulting cDNA.

Cells were collected in PBS and pelleted. Protocol was followed as described in kit. The eluting volume was decreased by half (~40ul) to increase the resulting RNA concentration for downstream applications. RNA quality was monitored by Nanodrop (260/280 ratio) . Great yield and very convenient kit.
Enusre you collect at least 500k cells and use filter tips to avoid RNA degradation
Kit works great and all you need are: Filtered tips, ethanol for the buffers and a bench top mini centrifuge. Many downstream applications possible including qPCR.

Can be a bit expensive but kit enusres a high qulaity RNA recovery.
