FTIR Spectrometers

Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers are used to analyze and identify samples based on how they absorb light at different wavelengths. FTIR spectrometers are used by pharmaceutical, medical, and forensic laboratories for qualitative and quantitative analysis, quality control, and research and development. FTIR spectrometers use a multi-wavelength beam of light to determine what wavelengths are absorbed by the sample. By comparing the resulting spectra to standards, the composition of the sample can be identified.

When choosing an FTIR spectrometer, some things to keep in mind are the spectrometer's spectral range, its sensitivity and resolution, and whether it is cooled thermoelectrically or with liquid nitrogen.
