Class III Biological Safety Cabinet / Biosafety Cabinet

A class III biological safety cabinet is a fully enclosed work area designed to protect the worker, the environment, and the material inside of it from contamination. Class III biological cabinets are used in labs that do research involving pathogens, including microbiology labs, pharmaceutical labs, and cancer labs. The worker can manipulate the sample inside the class III biological safety cabinet by using rubber gloves that are attached to the cabinet. Outside air is filtered through a HEPA filter before coming into the cabinet and air leaving the class III biological safety cabinet is filtered through two HEPA filters before being vented to outside the building.
