Differential scanning calorimeters, which measure heat flow by comparison to a reference container, are one of the most common types. Other types of calorimeters include bomb, reaction, constant pressure, isothermic and Calvet-type. The appropriate calorimeter will depend on the experimental application, the temperature range and atmospheric conditions.
