Double immunofluorescence labeling of a cultured hippocampal neuron (31 DIV) with anti-VGAT (dilution 1 :1 000) and anti-synapsin (cat. no. 106 002; dilution 1 : 20000) in combination with secondary Alexa-conjugated antibodies (Molecular Probes, Eugene, OR). A subset of synapses (synapsin; blue) is positive for VGAT (red).

Immunolabeling showing inhibitory synapses in the central nervous system. Immunoreactivity was revealed with carbocyanine 2, 3, and 5-conjugated secondary antibodies. Parvalbumin (PV) and choline-acetyltransferase (ChAT) were detected with rabbit and goat antibodies.

Rats were transcardially perfused with a fixative containing 4 % paraformaldehyde and 0.1 % glutaraldehyde in phosphate buffer (0.1M, pH 7.4).
