SOS proteins are guanine-nucleotide releasing factor that canpromote the exchange of Ras-bound GDP by GTP to activate Ras in response to growth factorstimulation. SOS proteins also appear to serve as a guanine nucleotide exchanger for Rac and, thus,may be involved in cytoskeleton reorganization.
