RAP80 was first identified as a nuclear protein that interacts with the retinoid-related testis-associated receptor (RTR) and is able to inhibit the interaction of RTR with the N-CoR co-repressor. RAP80 has also been shown to interact with estrogen receptor alpha (ER-alpha) and modulate its activity.
