Founded in the late 1990s, MaxCyte, Inc. has established itself as a leader in cell engineering and delivery technologies, with a mission to maximize the potential of cells to improve patients' lives. The company's journey began with a vision to engineer cells non-virally for therapeutic applications, a dream that has now become a reality with thousands of patients benefiting from their technology.

At the core of MaxCyte's offerings is its proprietary Flow Electroporation® technology, which forms the basis of their ExPERT™ platform. Introduced in 2019, the ExPERT platform has gained significant traction in the cell therapy market. It is currently being used by nearly 30 leading cell therapy developers in clinical trials, with over 1,000 patients across more than 25 clinical trials receiving treatments developed using this platform.

The ExPERT family includes four instruments: ATx™, STx™, GTx™, and VLx™, along with proprietary processing assemblies and software protocols. This comprehensive suite is designed to support the entire spectrum of the cell therapy sector, from early discovery to commercialization.

MaxCyte stands at the forefront of cell engineering, the critical tool in the discovery and commercialization of cutting-edge cell-based therapies. The company's ExPERT electroporation platform is the only transfection technology supporting a commercialized, non-viral engineered therapy. MaxCyte is thrilled to support Vertex Pharmaceuticals and CRISPR Therapeutics in celebrating the approval of their new product. CASGEVYTM, from Vertex Pharmaceuticals and CRISPR Therapeutics, has been approved by multiple health authorities for the treatment of sickle cell disease (SCD) and beta thalassemia in certain eligible patients. The manufacturing process for that therapy uses MaxCyte's transfection platform.

The company's platform is versatile, suitable for both autologous and allogeneic therapies. It has proven efficiency with a variety of cell types and applications, extending beyond oncology to rare diseases and infectious diseases. MaxCyte's technology is being applied in various indications, including HIV, sickle cell disease, and various hematological and solid tumor malignancies.

What sets MaxCyte apart is not just its technology, but also its dedicated team of scientists. These experts provide comprehensive support to customers both upstream and downstream of the electroporation step, ensuring optimal results for cell therapies. This level of support is a crucial element of MaxCyte's business model.

MaxCyte has demonstrated agility in adapting to the rapidly evolving cell and gene therapy market. With a global workforce of approximately 135 people, the company can quickly respond to changing industry demands. They continuously work on improving their consumables to meet evolving customer requirements. For instance, they recently introduced the G-20k closed process assembly, designed to mitigate cell loss in autologous cell therapy manufacturing.

The company's instruments and consumables are platform-agnostic, allowing flexible integration with other cell therapy instrumentation. MaxCyte is also actively working on automating and scaling up processes, collaborating with industry partners to stay at the forefront of technological advancements.

Looking to the future, MaxCyte aims to maintain its position as a leader in cell engineering and delivery. The company remains committed to its founding vision of enabling life-changing cell therapies through non-viral engineering methods.

As MaxCyte continues to push the boundaries of cell engineering, it invites researchers and companies to explore how its technologies can advance their work in cell therapy, bioprocessing, and drug discovery. With its proven track record and innovative spirit, MaxCyte is well-positioned to play a crucial role in shaping the future of cell and gene therapies.
