During the last decade, production of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and recombinant proteins using mammalian cells has led to a boom in the introduction of biotherapeutics to the market. More and more therapeutics are being manufactured by mammalian cell “factories” than ever before.

While biologics are poised to change the way disease is treated, cell line development is a temperamental and often error-prone process. Several recent advances allow for an easier and more reliable workflow to develop the cell lines used in biologics manufacturing, as well as for research purposes.
