Cell culture inserts are permeable supports designed to better replicate a three-dimensional, in vivo cellular environment. In contrast to the flat surfaces of well plates, these supports allow the exposure of both the apical and basolateral surfaces of cells to the culture environment. Cell culture inserts are placed inside well plates and can vary in membrane types, coatings, pore sizes, custom surfaces, conformations, and pore densities. In addition to cell culture, they are often used various cell-based applications, such as transport, secretion and diffusion studies, migration, invasion and chemotaxis studies, cytotoxicity, co-culturing, and tissue engineering. Inserts may be packaged individually or along with multiwell plates. Visit the supplier page for more information.
