Comet Assay Kits

Comet assays, also known as single-cell gel electrophoresis assays, are used to measure DNA damage within individual cells. An electrophoretic field at high pH is used to separate damaged DNA from intact DNA, yielding a shape that resembles a comet’s tail. The extent of the damage can be estimated by the intensity of the comet tail. Comet assays are used in DNA fragmentation analyses in sperm cells, toxicity testing, DNA damage, and cellular stress responses.
