Mounting Media

Mounting Media Mounting media are used to prepare, or mount, specimens onto slides for microscopy or for further analysis. By embedding them within a solution, the medium protects the specimens, enhances the image quality, and preserves them for storage. Mounting media can come in various forms, including water-soluble, alcohol-based, and resinous. The type of medium for mounting would depend on its intended use–whether for fluorescent microscopy, permanent slide preparation, histochemistry, etc. Some media have been enhanced to minimize fading and bubble formation while maximizing durability. The type of fluorescent dye used in the sample should also be noted to ensure compatibility with the mounting medium. Visit the manufacturer’s page for more information.
