Protein Stains

Protein staining following protein electrophoresis is as crucial as the separation step itself. Effective visualization of proteins for analysis requires that background staining stays minimal and sensitivity is appropriate. Many commercial, ready-to-use stains are available from many reliable manufacturers, and can serve as means of rapidly and reproducibly staining routine protein gels. These include Coomassie Blue-based stains and silver stains for SDS-PAGE, native PAGE, and 2D-electrophoresis.
