The procedure has been optimized to provide extraction, with high protein recovery and low cross-contamination, in less than 2 hours. The extracted protein fractions are functional and suitable for downstream assays such as DNA footprinting, RNA splicing, gel shift assays (EMSA), reporter assays, enzyme activity assays, and Western blotting.
