Description

The Invitrogen Colorimetric ReadiLAMP Kit for SARS-CoV-2 is a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP)-based solution for rapid SARS-CoV-2 detection in saliva and nasopharyngeal/nasal swab samples

  • The Invitrogen Colorimetric ReadiLAMP Kit for SARS-CoV-2 is a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP)-based solution for rapid SARS-CoV-2 detection in saliva and nasopharyngeal/nasal swab samples
  • The first protocol option provides a workflow for RNA purification followed by a colorimetric LAMP assay
    • For robust SARS-CoV-2 RNA isolation, the MagMAX Viral/Pathogen II Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit (Cat. No. A48383) or PureLink Viral RNA/DNA Mini Kit (Cat. No. 12280050) are recommended
  • The second protocol option consists of a simple SARS-CoV-2 viral lysis method for compatible sample types followed by a colorimetric LAMP assay
    • This protocol does not require nucleic acid isolation or complex sample preparation; instead it directly incorporates the saliva or nasopharyngeal/nasal swab samples as LAMP assay input
Features of the Colorimetric ReadiLAMP Kit for SARS-CoV-2 include:
  • Simplicity - Detection is fast, simple, and intuitive; LAMP reaction changes color from purple to blue if SARS target is present
    • No instrumentation required, except for a 65 heating block
  • Sensitivity - Input of up to 50% volume of purified RNA per LAMP reaction, enabling maximal sensitivity in SARS-CoV-2 detection
    • Direct LAMP: ≤250 copies per reaction (25 µL)
    • Purified RNA-based LAMP: ≤100 copies per reaction (25 µL)
  • Speed - Both protocols can be completed within 1 hour
    • Direct LAMP: ∼30 minutes using crude saliva or swabs in non-serum-containing transport media
    • Purified RNA-based LAMP: ∼ 60 minutes (∼30 minutes RNA purification, followed by 30 minutes LAMP assay)
  • Throughput - Process between 1 and 96 samples at a time, enabling the processing of more samples with same personnel headcount, using individual tubes, tube strips, or 96-wells
