Description
A Bax inhibitor; decreases Bax, Bad, and NF-ĸB p65 levels and increases XIAP and Bcl-2 levels in isolated mouse pancreatic islets at 100 µM; inhibits etoposide-induced apoptosis in Hep3B cells at 200 µM; decreases infarct volume and reduces ipsilateral paw preference in the cylinder rearing test in a neonatal mouse model of hypoxic-ischemia brain injury induced by carotid artery ligation at 5 mg/ml; inhibits increases in blood glucose levels in an intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test and increases survival in an STZ-induced mouse model of diabetes when used at 100 µM in syngeneic pancreatic islet cells prior to transplantation
