Anti-PIK3CA antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase catalytic subunit alpha. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1068 amino acid residues and a mass of 124.3 kDa. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the PI3/PI4-kinase protein family, PIK3CA is known to be involved with cytoskeleton organization and adipose tissue development. The PIK3CA gene has been associated with the disease, Colorectal cancer. Synonyms for this target antigen include CLAPO, CLOVE, CWS5, MCAP, MCM, MCMTC, PI3K, and CCM4. PIK3CA gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 990 citations in the literature describe the use of PIK3CA antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
