OSBPL8 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein oxysterol binding protein like 8, which is encoded by the OSBPL8 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to be a lipid transporter involved in lipid countertransport between the endoplasmic reticulum and the plasma membrane: specifically exchanges phosphatidylserine with phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P), delivering phosphatidylserine to the plasma membrane in exchange for PI4P, which is degraded by the SAC1/SACM1L phosphatase in the endoplasmic reticulum. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 889 residues, a mass of 101.2 kDa, and is a member of the OSBP protein family. It is known to be localized in the nucleus and ER and is widely expressed across many tissue types. As many as 3 protein isoforms have been reported. Other alias names for this target include oxysterol-binding protein-related protein 8 and OSBP-related protein 8.
