Androstenedione ELISA kits are assays designed to detect the steroid hormone androstenedione, also known as A4. Secreted by the adrenal gland and ovaries in females, it is converted to testosterone and estrone. In males, it is produced mainly by the testes and most androstenedione is converted into testosterone. It can be used as a marker to detect androgen production and adrenal gland function. Altered levels of androstenedione have been associated with polycystic ovary syndrome and adrenal hyperplasia. Visit the supplier page for more information about detection range and reactivity.
