The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 385 residues, a mass of 42.4 kDa, and is a member of the RRM elav protein family. It is known to be localized in the cytoplasm and is reported to be expressed in pancreatic beta cells. As many as 6 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally methylated.
