Nurr1 is an alias of the human NR4A2 gene, which encodes the protein, nuclear receptor subfamily 4 group A member 2. The NR4A2 protein is 598 amino acid residues in length and 66.6 kilodaltons in mass. However, as many as 2 protein isoforms have been identified. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue specificity, it is reported to be expressed in a number of cell lines of T-cell, B-cell and fibroblast origin.
