Chloramphenicol ELISA kits are assays designed to detect the semi-synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic, chloramphenicol. Originally isolated from Streptomyces venequelae, it confers a bacteriostatic activity by binding to bacterial 50S ribosomal subunits and interfering with protein synthesis. It is used for the treatment of conjunctivitis, typhoid, cholera and meningitis. Chloramphenicol ELISA kits can be used to measure levels of the antibiotic during the course of treatment. Visit the supplier page for more information about detection range and reactivity.
