TPMT ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein thiopurine S-methyltransferase, which is encoded by the TPMT gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to catalyze the S-methylation of thiopurine drugs such as 6-mercaptopurine (also called mercaptopurine, 6-MP or its brand name Purinethol) and 6-thioguanine (also called tioguanine or 6-TG) using S-adenosyl-L-methionine as the methyl donor. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 245 residues, a mass of 28.2 kDa, and is a member of the TPMT protein family. It is known to be localized in the cytoplasm. Other alias names for this target include TPMTD and S-adenosyl-L-methionine:thiopurine S-methyltransferase.
