FFAR2 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein free fatty acid receptor 2, which is encoded by the FFAR2 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is a G protein-coupled receptor that is activated by a major product of dietary fiber digestion, the short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), and that plays a role in the regulation of whole-body energy homeostasis and in intestinal immunity. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 330 residues, a mass of 37.1 kDa, and is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 protein family. It is known to be localized in the cell membrane and is noted to be expressed at relatively high levels in peripheral blood leukocytes and, to lesser extent, in spleen. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally glycosylated. Other alias names for this target include GPR43, G-protein coupled receptor 43, fatty acid receptor 2, free fatty acid activated receptor 2, and FFA2R.
