MARS1 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein methionyl-tRNA synthetase 1, which is encoded by the MARS1 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to catalyze the specific attachment of an amino acid to its cognate tRNA in a 2 step reaction: the amino acid (AA) is first activated by ATP to form AA-AMP and then transferred to the acceptor end of the tRNA. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 900 residues, a mass of 101.1 kDa, and is a member of the Class-I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase protein family. It is known to be localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The MARS1 gene has been associated with the disease, Interstitial lung and liver disease. Other alias names for this target include CMT2U and ILFS2.
