Functionally, this protein is known to catalyze the synthesis of dihydrouridine, a modified base, in various RNAs, such as tRNAs, mRNAs and some long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 650 residues, a mass of 72.6 kDa, and is a member of the Dus protein family.
