The ITGAE protein is described to be 1179 amino acid residues in length and 130.2 kilodaltons in mass. It is localized to the membrane of the cell. In terms of tissue specificity, it is noted to be expressed on a subclass of T-lymphocytes known as intra-epithelial lymphocytes which are located between mucosal epithelial cells.
