KRT5 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein keratin 5, which is encoded by the KRT5 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to be required for the formation of keratin intermediate filaments in the basal epidermis and maintenance of the skin barrier in response to mechanical stress (By similarity). The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 590 residues, a mass of 62.4 kDa, and is a member of the Intermediate filament protein family. It is known to be localized in the cytoplasm and is reported to be expressed in corneal epithelium. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally O-glycosylated and phosphorylated. The KRT5 gene has been associated with the disease, Epidermolysis bullosa simplex. Other alias names for this target include DDD, DDD1, EBS1, EBS2, EBS2A, EBS2B, EBS2C, and CK5.
There are KRT5 ELISA kits that can detect a target at concentrations as low as 15.6 pg/mL and as high as 20 ng/mL. Click on the products below for more detailed ELISA kit information, such as target reactivity and assay sensitivity.
