DEFA6 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein defensin alpha 6, which is encoded by the DEFA6 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is reported to be a host-defense peptide that contributes to intestinal innate immunity and mediates homeostasis at mucosal surfaces by forming higher-order oligomers that capture bacteria and prevent microbial invasion of the epithelium. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 100 residues, a mass of 11 kDa, and is a member of the Alpha-defensin protein family. It is known to be localized in the cytoplasmic vesicles and is secreted and is reported to be expressed in Paneth cells of the small intestine. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally cleaved. Other alias names for this target include HD-6, defensin-6, defensin, alpha 6, Paneth cell-specific, and DEF6.
There are DEFA6 ELISA kits that can detect a target at concentrations as low as 15.6 pg/mL and as high as 150 ng/mL. Click on the products below for more detailed ELISA kit information, such as target reactivity and assay sensitivity.
