Functionally, this protein is a G protein-coupled receptor for PPY/pancreatic polypeptide/PP, NPY/neuropeptide Y and PYY/peptide YY that is negatively coupled to cAMP. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 375 residues, a mass of 42.2 kDa, and is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 protein family. It is known to be localized in the cell membrane. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally glycosylated.
