NPC2 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein NPC intracellular cholesterol transporter 2, which is encoded by the NPC2 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to be involved in cholesterol metabolism and homeostasis. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 151 residues, a mass of 16.6 kDa, and is a member of the NPC2 protein family. It is known to be localized in the ER, lysosomes, and is secreted and is notably expressed in gallbladder bile. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally glycosylated. The NPC2 gene has been associated with the disease, Niemann-Pick disease.
