These CA 15-3 ELISA kits are immunodetection tools for measuring the levels of CA 15-3 in biological samples. CA 15-3 is an alias of the human MUC1 gene, which encodes the protein, mucin 1, cell surface associated. Notably, CA 15-3 is known to play a role in DNA damage pathways and the regulation of apoptosis, among other functions. The MUC1 protein is 1255 amino acid residues in length and 122.1 kilodaltons in mass. However, as many as 17 protein isoforms have been identified. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell. In terms of tissue specificity, it is noted to be expressed on the apical surface of epithelial cells, especially of airway passages, breast and uterus. This protein is known to be O-glycosylated, N-glycosylated, palmitoylated, cleaved and phosphorylated. Other names for this target antigen include ADMCKD, ADMCKD1, and ADTKD2.
The detection range for different CA 15-3 ELISA kits can vary, with some assays measuring target concentrations as low as 0.156 ng/mL and as high as 10 ng/mL. Click on the following ELISA kits for more detailed information, including target reactivity and assay sensitivity.
