Anti-DNA polymerase sigma antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target DNA polymerase sigma is a known alias name of the protein terminal nucleotidyltransferase 4A, encoded by the TENT4A gene in humans. This 792-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a terminal nucleotidyltransferase that catalyzes preferentially the transfert of ATP and GTP on RNA 3' poly(A) tail creating a heterogeneous 3' poly(A) tail leading to mRNAs stabilization by protecting mRNAs from active deadenylation. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Other synonyms for DNA polymerase sigma include LAK-1, LAK1, and PAPD7. These DNA polymerase sigma antibodies are widely used in ELISA experiments, among other applications.
