Anti-CLGN antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein calmegin. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 610 amino acid residues and a mass of 70 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the testis. A member of the Calreticulin protein family, CLGN is reported to function during spermatogenesis as a chaperone for a range of client proteins that are important for sperm adhesion onto the egg zona pellucida and for subsequent penetration of the zona pellucida. Synonyms for this target antigen include testis tissue sperm-binding protein Li 79P. CLGN gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some CLGN antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
