Anti-MTFR2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein mitochondrial fission regulator 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 385 amino acid residues and a mass of 43.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the testis, rectum, and colon. A member of the MTFR1 protein family, MTFR2 is believed to play a role in mitochondrial aerobic respiration essentially in the testis. Synonyms for this target antigen include DUF729 domain-containing protein 1 and family with sequence similarity 54, member A. MTFR2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some MTFR2 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. These antibodies are most commonly used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
