Anti-GPX5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein glutathione peroxidase 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 221 amino acid residues and a mass of 25.2 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Glutathione peroxidase protein family, GPX5 is known to be involved with the response to oxidative stress and the metabolism of lipids. Synonyms for this target antigen include GSHPx-5, HEL-S-75p, epididymal secretory glutathione peroxidase, epididymal androgen-related protein, and EGLP. GPX5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse and rat species. A number of Gpx5 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. ELISA is a widely used application for these antibodies. Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
