Anti-Cyclin C antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the CCNC gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 283 amino acid residues and a mass of 33.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in the pancreas. A member of the Cyclin protein family, it is a known component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in regulated gene transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Other names for this target antigen include SRB11, hSRB11, SRB11 homolog, and CycC. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
