Anti-LOX-1 antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The LOX-1 antigen is another term for the human protein oxidized low density lipoprotein receptor 1, encoded by the OLR1 gene. The protein is a known receptor that mediates the recognition, internalization and degradation of oxidatively modified low density lipoprotein (oxLDL) by vascular endothelial cells. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 273 residues and a mass of 31 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and is secreted. It is notably expressed at high level in endothelial cells and vascular-rich organs such as placenta, lung, liver and brain, aortic intima, bone marrow, spinal cord and substantia nigra.
