Anti-GYS2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein glycogen synthase 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 703 amino acid residues and a mass of 81 kDa. It is notably expressed in the liver. A member of the Glycosyltransferase 3 protein family, GYS2 is known to be involved with carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. The GYS2 gene has been associated with the disease, Glycogen storage disease. Synonyms for this target antigen include glycogen [starch] synthase, liver and glycogen synthase 2 (liver). GYS2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of Gys2 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
