Anti-LYZL6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein lysozyme like 6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 148 amino acid residues and a mass of 17 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is reported to be expressed in the testis, epididymis and spermatozoa. A member of the Glycosyl hydrolase 22 protein family, LYZL6 is suspected to be involved sperm-egg plasma membrane adhesion and fusion during fertilization. Synonyms for this target antigen include epididymis secretory sperm binding protein Li 6a, lysozyme B, lysozyme homolog, and lysozyme-like protein 6. LYZL6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Western Blot is the most common application for the LYZL6 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
