Anti-TGASE antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target TGASE is a known alias name of the protein transglutaminase 1, encoded by the TGM1 gene in humans. This 817-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the cross-linking of proteins and the conjugation of polyamines to proteins. It is localized to the membrane of the cell and features palmitoylated, cleaved and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the tonsil, skin, esophagus, and cervix. Other synonyms for TGASE include ARCI1, ICR2, and KTG.
