Anti-SP-II antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the SP-II antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the IBSP gene, which encodes integrin binding sialoprotein. This protein is known to function in cell adhesion and extracellular matrix organization, among other biological roles. The human version of SP-II has a canonical amino acid length of 317 residues and a protein mass of 35.1 kilodaltons. It is reported to be a secreted protein. Other names for this target antigen include BNSP, BSP, and BSP-II. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for SP-II antibodies.
