Anti-SPURT antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The SPURT antigen is another term for the human protein BPI fold containing family A member 1, encoded by the BPIFA1 gene. The protein is reported to be a lipid-binding protein, which shows high specificity for the surfactant phospholipid dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC). Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 256 residues and a mass of 26.7 kilodaltons. It is a secreted protein and it is reported to be highly expressed in the lung, upper airways and nasopharyngeal regions, including trachea and nasal epithelium. The SPURT protein is a member of the Plunc protein family. Other alias names for SPURT include LUNX, NASG, and PLUNC.
